Gracillaria syringella
Pest description and damage The adult insect is a mottled golden yellow moth about 0.5 inch in length. The larvae that mine within the leaf tissues are small, pale yellow to green caterpillars, 0.125 to 0.25 inch long. The larvae mine leaves during the early part of their development. Later, the larvae leave the mine, roll and tie together leaf tips to feed on the tissues within the rolled leaf.
