The information in this handbook has been compiled from many sources. We sincerely appreciate the time and effort that everyone spent preparing and reviewing this material. Many of the past authors and contributors have been identified in the 2004 PNW

Plant Disease Management Handbook, our 50th edition. Our attempt in this section is to identify all individuals who worked on the 2017 version of the handbook whether their effort was great or small. Those acknowledged as authors or contributors have written completely new sections or conducted major rewrites of existing sections. Reviewers helped read through and verify the existing information.

Special thanks go to Erik Ackerson for his skill in copyediting and desktop publishing and to publishing manager Jennifer Alexander, who keeps all the books moving along toward publication. Those management responsibilities are being transferred to Phillip Brown as Jennifer takes on a new EESC position.

A personal acknowledgment from Jay to his family: Jacob, congratulations on your 2-year degree, keep up the good work at WOU. Lucas, congratulations on graduation from culinary school; you are a wonderful cook, thanks. I will always love you both. To my wife Kim, still thrilled to be your husband. Ian, hope you get the closer internship you want. Erin, glad the move to the sorority has been so successful! Love you all!
– J. W. Pscheidt

“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” —Robert F. Kennedy

My efforts on this handbook edition are one of my various small contributions to help the present for our future. I dedicate this volume to the league of persons who toil on the lands, coaxing plants to grow and produce their precious gifts that sustain humanity. —C.M. Ocamb, January 2017

Finally to Sue Jepson, we will miss your hard work, dedication, can do attitude, a lovely smile and most of all your warm heart. Rest In Peace.
