The information in this handbook has been compiled from many sources. We sincerely appreciate the time and effort that everyone spent preparing and reviewing this material. Many of the past authors and contributors have been identified in the 2004 PNW Plant Disease Management Handbook, our 50th edition. Our attempt in this section is to identify all individuals who worked on the 2021 version of the handbook whether their effort was great or small. Those acknowledged as authors or contributors have written completely new sections or conducted major rewrites of existing sections. Reviewers helped read through and verify the existing information.

Special thanks go to Erik Ackerson for his skill in copyediting and desktop publishing and to publishing manager Jim Sloan, who keeps all the books moving along toward publication.

To everyone, our sympathies if the “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” has taken a loved one from your life. Lock downs, working at home, shuttered businesses, unemployment, face masks, keeping 6 feet away from each other, the smell of hand sanitizer everywhere, less travel, etc…. have made this pandemic difficult but hopefully it has helped limit the impact of this virus on all of our lives. We also sympathize with those who lost everything in the catastrophic Labor Day wildfires and hope for a speedy recovery.

A personal acknowledgment from Jay to his family: Jacob, good to hear you continue to make advancements in your job, keep up the good work. Lucas, congratulations on getting into OSU. Once the pandemic is over it might feel more like college. I will always love you both. To my wife Kim, I’ll support you as needed as you move into the thing called retirement. Ian, congratulations on getting into Stanford law school (Harvard would have been fine too). Erin, keep up the good work at PSU. Don’t let the little Tasmanian devil (Baxter) rule your life too much. Love you all!
