Note Out of dozens of samples there were few (5) diagnosed with Verticillium wilt by the OSU Plant Clinic.

Symptoms Initially a sudden wilting of leaves on one or more branches may occur. Leaves have a dull appearance, then turn tan and die but may remain attached for an extended period of time. Leaf death may progress from the bottom of branches to the tip. Young trees may die but older trees may recover only to have recurrent symptoms in future years. Repeated cycles result in stunted terminal growth and low productivity and may eventually die.
