Linden (Tilia spp.)-Canker

A canker on this branch due to Phoma sp. but bark blisters were sterile.

This canker was due to Fusarium lateridium and Phoma sp. on this Tilia cordata 'Greenspire'.

Note: There have been several fungi associated with Linden cankers by the OSU Plant Clinic. Fusarium lateritium, Phoma spp., and a Phomopsis sp. are among the most likely pathogens. Alternaria (stem canker) and Phytophthora (bleeding canker) have also been found. They might be primary pathogens or opportunistically colonizing wounded tissue.
