paraquat (Gramoxone)

Rate 0.3 to 0.5 lb ai/A (1.2 to 2 pints/A Gramoxone 2 SL)

Time Apply when crop is mature: at least 80% of pods yellowing and mostly ripe, and no more than 40% (bush-type) or 30% (vine-type) of leaves still green.

bentazon (Basagran)

Rate 0.5 to 1 lb ai/A (1 to 2 pints/A Basagran 4L or 0.8 to 1.6 pints/A Basagran 5L)

Time Apply postemergence to actively growing weeds in the 2- to 10-leaf stage of growth (refer to label). Beans must have first trifoliate leaf fully expanded.

Postemergence

clethodim (Select, Select Max and several other trade names)

Dry beans only

Rate 0.094 to 0.25 lb ai/A (6 to 16 fl oz/A Select 2EC) or 0.068 to 0.25 lb ai/A (9 to 32 fl oz/A Select Max 0.97EC)

Time Apply to actively growing grasses 1 to 8 inches tall (generally three-leaf to tillering).

dimethenamid-P (Outlook)

Dry bean classes such as black turtle, cranberry, dry lima, great northern, navy, pink, pinto, red kidney, red Mexican, and small whites

Rate 0.56 to 0.98 lb ai/A (12 to 21 fl oz/A Outlook 6EC)

Time Apply preplant surface, preplant incorporated, preemergence, or early postemergence (first to third trifoliate leaves).

benefin (Balan DF)

Rate 1.2 to 1.5 lb ai/A (2 to 2.5 lb/A Balan DF)

Time Before planting clover, benefin must be incorporated into the top 2 to 3 inches of the seedbed.

Remarks Controls annual grasses and certain annual broadleaf weeds. Application rates are based on soil texture. Use the 2.5 lb/A rate on fine clay soils, use the lower 2 lb/A rate on coarse sandy soils.

carfentrazone (Aim EC)

Rate 0.016 to 0.06 lb ai/A (2.0 to 3.8 oz/A Aim EC)

Time Apply Aim EC alone or with other labeled herbicides for desiccation of clover seed crops.

Remarks Apply at a minimum application volume of 35 gal/A. Always add an adjuvant. See Aim EC label for minimum recommended additives.

imazamox (Raptor) + bentazon (Basagran 5L)

Oregon and Washington only

Rate 0.04 lb ai/A (5 fl oz/A Raptor) + 0.25 to 0.5 lb ai/A (0.4 to 0.8 pints/A Basagran 5L)

Time Apply when crimson, red or white clover has at least two trifoliolate leaves and most weeds are 1 to 3 inches tall. Imazamox applications to clover grown for seed must be made before bloom.

bentazon (Basagran 5L, Broadloom 4L)

Oregon and Washington only

Rate Up to 1 lb ai/A (1.6 pints/A Basagran 5L)

Time Apply in spring to young, actively growing weeds in crimson, red, and white clover grown for seed in Washington and Oregon.

Rate 0.094 to 0.25 lb ai/A (9 to 32 fl oz/A depending on weeds present)

Time Apply to actively growing annual or perennial grasses at the appropriate stage of grass growth as indicated on label.

Western Oregon, red clover only

Rate 1.6 lb ai/A (2.0 lb/A 80DF)

Time Apply when red clover is semi-dormant, from October 15 to March 1.
