Blackberry and Raspberry-Brown marmorated stink bug

This pest is not currently of commercial concern as SWD management programs tend to keep brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) populations in check. BMSB secrete a defensive chemical that can be absorbed by the fruit, resulting in unpleasant flavor. Raspberries are most easily contaminated with the defensive compound, and late-fruiting caneberries are most susceptible to damage. It is present in the Pacific Northwest but has not caused significant damage to berry crops. It may pose a significant risk to fruit if populations increase.
